Mechatronics is the new name for a career field that combines elements of electronics, material and mechanical sciences together to create a diverse range of products. Research shows that the average adult will have over 14 different careers during his or her lifetime. This means that lifelong learning is a must in order to remain competitive in today's global, knowledge-centered economy. The Mechatronics curriculum developed through the TechReadySC partnership between the South Carolina Technical College System and five Upstate South Carolina technical and community colleges is designed to meet the needs of local industry by providing Mechatronics training for a certificate or Associate Degree.
