Today's high school students will be entering a completely different workforce than the one that existed just a few years earlier. This new knowledge economy requires training and education beyond high school in order for young adults to be competitive in the work force. TechReadySC is a consortium of the Technical College System and five Upstate South Carolina technical and community colleges that have collaboratively designed a portable curriculum for an Associate Degree in Occupational Technology with a major in Mechatronics Technology or a certificate for the in-demand field of Mechatronics.

Mechatronics combines elements of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, information technology, computers, and robotics. Job trend reports show that individuals with Mechatronics training will be entering into a growing career field with many job opportunities. Students that like to see what things are made of and how they work using both their minds and their hands will be the most successful in this program.
